Common questions
What is Kurashi OS? Is it the same as Kurashi Board?+
Kurashi Board has a new name and design: Kurashi OS. It is a free web app that brings budgeting, plans, weather, and shopping lists together, with no sign-up required. It works in a browser on iPhone or Android. It does not replace your device's operating system. When you use the same URL in the same browser, your existing records carry over.
Can I still use the previous screen and my records?+
At the same URL in the same browser, your budget, plans, location, colors, and notification time remain available. You can also open the previous screen from Advanced mode in Settings. AI chat, payment app shortcuts, and expense search are available in Advanced mode.
Will notifications arrive automatically?+
Saving notification settings alone does not enable notifications. Open the event file with reminders in your device's calendar and add it there. Any morning event you have already added will keep working. Edits and deletions on the board are not automatically reflected in your calendar.
How is Estimated spending left today calculated?+
The new board subtracts recorded expenses and unpaid scheduled payments due this month or earlier from your monthly budget, then divides the remainder by the days left, including today, to show a daily estimate. View the breakdown in Money. In Advanced mode, Estimated spending left today subtracts that day's expenses from the day's estimate.
Will a scheduled payment be deducted twice when I pay it?+
On the new board, choose Paid on a scheduled payment, check the date and amount, and save it to move it to expenses. The payment and expense are linked so the amount is not deducted twice. Entering a separate expense manually would count it twice, so record it from the scheduled payment.
What should I do if I see a message that my data was not saved?+
On the new board, keep the entry screen open, check your device's free storage and storage settings, then try again. If another tab caused a conflict, make a note of your entry before checking the latest records. In Advanced mode, you may be able to back up unsaved records shown on screen.
Do I need to sign up or log in?+
No. Just open the page to start. Enter a budget to see today's spending estimate. You can change the weather location later.
Does it connect to bank accounts or credit cards?+
No. It does not read balances or statements. You manually record the expenses you need.
Can I use it if I find it hard to keep expense records?+
You can start with the expenses you need to track. Unrecorded expenses are not deducted automatically, though. Adjust your monthly budget and expense records from time to time to reflect your actual situation. Monthly budget should be the total amount you plan to spend that month.
Do I need to photograph every receipt?+
No. You can record just an amount, and quickly add amounts you use often. There is no receipt photography or scanning feature.
Where are my budget and plans saved?+
They are saved in the browser you use. Clearing your browser's stored data may delete them, so create a backup in Settings before changing or resetting your device.
Does my data sync automatically to another device?+
No. To move it to another device, use Backup and Restore in Settings.
Does the weather feature use an internet connection?+
Yes. It connects to external data providers for weather, location search, and rain radar. Your budget and plans are not used to fetch the weather.
Are AI prompts sent automatically?+
No. You review the information included and the prompt. It is sent only when you choose to copy or share it, or agree to the confirmations and press the button to ask directly. Do not include names, addresses, or secrets in the prompt.
Can I use it like an app on iPhone or Android?+
Yes. From Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android, choose the option to add it to your home screen or install it. You can then open it from your home screen.
Does it read payment histories from apps such as PayPay?+
No. On supported devices, you can use a button to open a payment app, but Kurashi OS does not retrieve balances, purchase details, or payment histories.
Is it free to use?+
The current web version is free. Future changes will be announced in the changelog or similar notices.
What to know
Local budget storage does not mean no internet access
Your budget and plans are saved in your browser. Weather, location search, and optional AI chat features still need an internet connection. The privacy page explains what each feature sends.
